Join Jookender as a STEM Teacher for an Exciting 3-Week Summer Program in Maryland!

Are you a passionate educator with a background in STEM and a love for inspiring young minds? Jookender is seeking 2 dedicated Teachers to accompany a group of 12 high school students on an unforgettable 3-week journey to the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES).

Program Details:

  • Dates: July 7-25, 2025
  • Location: UMES and surrounding agricultural fields/points of interest
  • Stipend: $1,500 (paid on the last day of the program)
  • Additional Benefits:
    • Food allowance (pre-program)
    • Shared hotel accommodations (double occupancy)
    • Transportation during the program
    • Certificate of Completion with 120 Continuing Education/Professional Development Hours

Your Role:

As a Jookender STEM Teacher, you'll play a crucial role in guiding and supporting students throughout their educational adventure. Your daily responsibilities include:

  • Morning Routine:
    • Wake students up and ensure they're ready for the day.
    • Confirm they've had breakfast and prepared/taken their lunches.
  • Program Escort:
    • Accompany students to UMES, agricultural fields, and cultural points of interest.
  • Educational Impact:
    • Prepare, deliver, and film one STEM-based lesson that incorporates agricultural applications.
  • Student Support:
    • Address minor behavioral issues and escalate significant concerns to the Program PI or Jookender Representative when necessary.
  • Team Building:
    • Join a few Zoom STEM meetings throughout the year to build rapport with the students before the trip.

Qualifications:

  • Background in teaching STEM in high school, after-school programs, or camps.
  • Fluent English (required). Additional languages such as Russian or Ukrainian are a plus.
  • Authorized to work in the U.S. for any employer.
  • Ability to handle behavioral challenges with maturity and discretion.

Travel & Logistics:

  • Getting There: Teachers are responsible for their transportation to/from the program's start and end dates.
  • Optional Bus Ride: Join the student group traveling from Massachusetts to Maryland (if applicable).
